Dawn Amato is a Brentwood High School graduate and proud member of the Class of 1980.

She joined the United States Army in 1981. She completed her basic training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina.

She was deployed and served overseas at various locations from 1984 to 1988. Most notably, she served in Operation Desert Storm from 1990 to 1991. Her military occupation specialty was Heavy Equipment Operator, Combat Medic, and Food Services and Supplies. She is the recipient of a Driver Badge with 300,000 miles logged, Army Achievement Medals, Expert Shooting/Range recognition, and physical training recognition for maintaining a 275-plus point average out of a possible 300 throughout her military career.

She and her family moved to the Centereach community in November 1990. She has lived in the 4th Legislative District for over 29 years and currently works for the Sachem Central School District in the Transportation Division.
