- After Submitting My Petitions
I have submitted my petitions for a ferry license and to establish rates, what is next?
After you have submitted both your petition for a ferry license and your petition to establish rates, with all supporting documentation, two resolutions will be introduced to the Legislature. The first resolution will be a Procedural Motion to set a Public Hearing for your proposed license and rates. The second resolution will be an Introductory Resolution that will need to be adopted to formally establish your license and rates.
Additionally, during this time, our Budget Review Office will be drafting a report based on the financials you submitted with your petition. This report will provide the Legislators with an overall understanding of your operation that you are seeking to obtain a license for, the rates you are looking to set, and your overall financial status. The report must be submitted within 45 days of your completed petition that is filed with the Legislature Clerk’s Office and the Legislature Budget Review Office.

After the Introductory Resolution to establish your license and set rates has been adopted, you will receive a copy of a certificate with the term of your license. This certificate should be displayed at the point of ticket purchase and on each of the vessels named in your approved petition.
