Inaugural Suffolk County Youth Week
Thursday, May 13 – Sunday, May 23, 2021
Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer Rob Calarco, Legislator Jason Richberg and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announce the first Youth Week in Suffolk County, as per Resolution 440-2020.
This event presented by the Suffolk County Department of Labor, Licensing and Consumer Affairs will help youth prepare for Youth Week’s May 17 job fair. Youth will learn about resume writing, how to complete an application, do’s and don’ts for an interview, and more.
This workshop will prepare Suffolk County Youth for summer job employment opportunities and more. Employers will be present virtually to handle applications and interviews.
Nominations for the 2021 Youth Awards are now closed. The winners are being notified.
The awards will recognize young people ages 9-18 from across the county who have gone above and beyond in helping their community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Suffolk County youth who performed extraordinary community service during the pandemic will be honored in a virtual award presentation. Community service could include any COVID-19 relief efforts such as distribution of food, toiletries, face-coverings, etc.
Young people and youth groups may sign up to tie a ribbon on the Suffolk County COVID-19 Memorial in honor of those who lost their fight to this disease. Events will be held at the William H. Rogers Legislature Building in Hauppauge and the Evans K. Griffing Building in Riverhead.
Please email Youth Week or call (631) 854-1111 with any questions.
