
Courtney Russo | Legislator Nick Caracappa's Honoree
Courtney Russo has been the Coordinator of Psychiatry at Northwell Health’s South Shore University Hospital and Peconic Bay Medical Center since 2016. In her role, she works closely with the psychiatric team in the Emergency Department and on the medical floors. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the psychiatry team was faced with not only a surge in mental health needs from within the community, but the logistical and complex challenge of keeping patients safe from COVID, while still receiving the appropriate mental health support.
Courtney Russo is a Licensed Master Social Worker, having obtained her Masters’ degree from Adelphi University in 2008. Her social work career started at Family Service League as the Coordinator for the Community Advocacy, Information and Referral and Youth Services program in 2008. Courtney has been an adjunct professor at Suffolk County Community College in the Human Service program since 2015. She was also an adjunct professor at Briarcliff College in Psychology and a Faculty Field Advisor in the Social Work program at Adelphi University.
Courtney lives in Holbrook with her husband Dennis and daughter Natalia, since 2010. In her free time, she enjoys painting and yoga.
