Champions of Diversity

In November of 2022, the Suffolk County Legislature approved a resolution sponsored by Legislator Manuel Esteban Sr, Esq. to designate April as “Champions of Diversity Month” in Suffolk County. In addition, an annual initiative to recognize an individual from each legislative district who promotes and demonstrates the appreciation of diversity, inclusion and cultural competence.  Starting in 2023, and continuing every year forward, at the first General Meeting in April the selected “Champions of Diversity” will be publicly recognized through a legislative pronouncement for their contribution in promoting positive behavior that demonstrates the appreciation for diversity and a deep understanding and appreciation of others. 

Legislators have selected a champion of diversity from their respective legislative district to be honored at the April 4, 2023 General Meeting.  Read more about these extraordinary honorees by clicking on their names on the panel.
