Theresa DePietto | Presiding Officer Kevin McCaffrey's Honoree
Theresa is not new to helping those in need in her community. Her passion for helping people stems from Superstorm Sandy. Theresa sat on the Long Island Long Term Recovery Group, Health and Welfare Council and is a member of Friends of Long Island and Vision Long Island. She is certified with the American Red Cross for Sheltering, and is a trained Disaster Case Manager through Catholic Charities via the Diocese of Rockville Centre. She is the recipient of the Town of Babylon Community Service Award for their Women's History Month, and is a recipient of Vision Long Islands Smart Growth Award. Theresa was a NY Rising CRP (Community Reconstruction Program) Committee Member for the Babylon/West Babylon NYR Committee. She can prioritize workloads and multi-task as well as manage many individuals needs.
Theresa can also be found feeding families in need throughout Babylon Town for every Holidays including during the pandemic, through a non profit she founded - Hope Floats Long Island Inc.
With Hope floats Long Island Inc. she has helped many businesses and families working alongside the Grammy Award winning NBC show called George to the Rescue which she has been a part of since season 2 ( they are now on season 13).
Theresa has organized and executed the Babylon Village Pride parade for the past three years since it’s inception and each year it just gets bigger. Inclusion and acceptance of everyone is the very definition of what Babylon Pride stands for.
The best part is that Theresa does everything she does in her community as a volunteer.
