Joe LaRocco | Legislator Leslie Kennedy's Honoree

The son of a retired Nassau County Police Officer, Joe LaRocco is a Smithtown Fire FIghter, serving on Fire-Medic Company #6. In 2017, LaRocco and five of his peers received the Fire Fighter of the Year Award from the Firemen's Association of the State of New York for a daring rescue of three individuals from an early morning fire in August 2016. 

He was awarded the 2018 Associate Member of the Year Award from Fire-Medic Company #6. In 2018, he was also among five recipients of the Suffolk County Emerald Society's Award for Valor. His peers describe him candidly as reliable and hardworking, a seemingly constant presence at the firehouse.
