Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly shared the pride and excitement of the entire community in recognizing Half Hollow Hills High School East Seniors Rinni Bhansali and Matthew Weltmann as 2019 Regeneron Scholars with each receiving a $2,000 award and earning the school $4,000.
The Regeneron Science Talent Search is America’s oldest and most prestigious pre-college math and science competition. Since being named Regeneron Scholars earlier this year, the students have been recognized by educators and community leaders alike. Legislator Donnelly presented Suffolk County Proclamations to Ms. Bhansali for her research project that created a model for the spread of diseases and information across social networks and to Mr. Weltmann for his research project that analyzed a breast cancer drug that stops cell division.
“Ms. Bhansali and Mr. Weltmann exhibited outstanding knowledge, research skills and a dedicated commitment to excellence in conducting their Regeneron Science Talent Search projects,” said Legislator Donnelly. “They are each truly deserving of this honor, and I am proud to join their mentors and peers in recognizing them.”
