ST. JAMES, NY – On Saturday, March 30th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined the Miller Place Fire Department to celebrate the Annual Inspection and Installation Dinner at Flowerfield in St. James. The celebration included honoring local firefighters for their years of service, inducting the new department officers, and presentations by government officials and community leaders.
“I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Miller Place Fire Department for protecting our community for over 65 years,” said Legislator Anker. “The dedication and service of the volunteers is vital for keeping local residents safe.”
Legislator Anker presented certificates to nine firefighters who were recognized for their dedicated years of service: Nicholas Menechella and Roger Rzeplinkski were recognized for 20 years of service; Vincent Ferrari, Eric Olsen, and Paul Hayden for 10 years of service; and Ryan Cassar, Michael Higley, Joseph Italiano, and Jessica Brett for 5 years of service.
The Miller Place Fire Department first opened its doors in 1952 and since then has created a safe and protected community.
