(Smithtown, NY)…At a recent meeting of the Suffolk County Legislature, Legislators Leslie Kennedy and Rob Trotta introduced the Smithtown East and West Varsity Kickline Teams, known as the Whisperettes.
The Smithtown High School East Kickline team won their 21st consecutive national championship at the Small High Kick Division at the National Contest of Champions in Orlando, Florida. They also captured second place in the Large High Kick category and were one of six teams selected by the judges to perform an encore of their Large High Kick routine during the awards ceremony. Also congratulated was Sarabeth Cook, their coach and a former Whisperette.
The Smithtown High School West Kickline team regained their Medium High Kick Division title at this year’s National Dance Association High School competition in Orlando, Florida. This is the seventh time in the last 12 years that they have won this title. They also earned Best in Category and Best Technique. Coach Tara Foglia and Smithtown School District Athletic Director Patrick Smith were acknowledged for their efforts.
“I commend these young women and their coaches for their hard work, commitment and perseverance in winning these titles. Through their determination and dancing skills they won their respective divisions making their school and everyone in Smithtown very proud of them,” said Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta.
