(SAYVILLE – NEW YORK) Legislator Lindsay and Community Ambulance Company hosted a free Community Narcan and Hands Only CPR Training this past weekend. The event focused on how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose by using intranasal Naloxone (Narcan) and hands only CPR.
The opioid epidemic that is affecting our county is growing; therefore, it is critical for people to understand they need to seek treatment beyond the reversal,” said Legislator Bill Lindsay. “The importance of Narcan training brings awareness, education and can eliminate the number of overdoses.”
The Great South Bay Coalition and Youth Enrichment Services (YES) provided a productive lecture on prevention strategies and tips for the ways these strategies can be used in the home, in the community, and in schools to reduce youth substance abuse. Immediately following, the Community Ambulance Company provided hands on training and hands only CPR class. Upon completion, each participant was provided with a take home Narcan kit.
