June 24, 2019 –Legislator
Leslie Kennedy (R-Nesconset) along with Kevin LaValle (R-Selden) and Mayor
Robert Scottaline (D-Lake Grove), hosted a blood drive at the Lake Grove
Recreation Center in Lake Grove.
Once more Legislator Kennedy enlisted the
New York Blood Center to provide their phenomenal collection services. Every
day, the New York Blood Center collects up to 2,000 units of blood for
hospitals in New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. All donors receive a free
pair of Mets tickets. The Mets have been a long-time supporter of the New York
Blood Center.
The partnership continues to be a success.
This blood drive alone saw over forty residents volunteer to donate blood.
After collecting approximately four hundred pints last year, Leslie hopes to
top that number as her 2019 Blood Drive Series continues. The New York Blood
Center is grateful for Legislator Kennedy’s devotion to seeing the needs of
others and finding a way to contribute, and Legislator Kennedy was pleased to
help.
“It’s always important to donate blood,
and I am happy to see that so many in the community are willing to put the
needs of others ahead of their own. I urge anyone who can to come down to our
future blood drives,” said Legislator Kennedy.
Kennedy’s next blood drive will be on
September 1st 2019 at the Ronkonkoma Street Fair on Labor Day
Weekend.
