MOUNT SINAI, NY – Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker is partnering with Blessings in a Backpack Longwood Chapter for a food drive at her office in Mount Sinai until November 1st.
“Many families rely on school-provided meals to feed their children throughout the week,” said Legislator Anker. “Blessings in a Backpack ensures that students do not go hungry over the weekend by providing pre-packed meals and the comfort of knowing that the community is here to help and support them. I thank Trisha Ewald and the volunteers that provide this much needed program.”
Blessings in a Backpack is a national organization that strives to ensure children do not go hungry on the weekends by empowering individuals and communities to take action. It currently serves over 87,000 children in 1,092 schools in 45 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.
