PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – Patchogue was officially designated as one of four ‘Great Places to Live in America’ for 2019 by the American Planning Association. The award was presented at a ceremony the Patchogue Theatre on Saturday, October 19th. The award recognizes communities that demonstrate exceptional character, quality and planning. Deputy Presiding Officer Rob Calarco spoke at the event. He emphasized the partnership between Patchogue Village and Suffolk County that has helped to revitalize the village.
Calarco pointed to several major investments that Suffolk County has made into Patchogue. That includes $29.6 million for sewer infrastructure, more than $12 million in affordable housing, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in Downtown revitalization grants. He also cited an upcoming $5,000,000 investment in to the Waverly Avenue Spur reconstruction and $625,000 grant Suffolk County gave toward a new parking facility.
