(Smithtown, NY)… Family, friends, fellow scouts and local officials came together to celebrate Joseph Pitta’s accomplishment of becoming an Eagle Scout. Having earned 27 merit badges, Joseph completed his Eagle Scout project by leading a group scouts in building a storage cabinet and refurbishing an interior staircase for the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry at St. Joseph’s Church in Kings Park.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank a scout can achieve and Joseph started as a cub scout in the first grade and has been an active member of Troop 75 since 2014. During this time, he has held leadership positions including Patrol Leader, Scribe and Philmont Crew Leader. “I have known the Pitta family for a long time and his older brother is an Eagle Scout and their father is a scout leader. In fact, being here really makes me feel old, as I have known Joe since he was in a stroller. I am so very proud of him and what he has accomplished, “said Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta.
