HAUPPAUGE, NY – On Thursday, February 13th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker attended the first meeting of 2020 of the Suffolk County Welfare to Work Commission. Legislator Anker was recently appointed to the commission as the Chairwoman of the Seniors and Human Services Legislative Committee.
“It is an honor to serve on the Welfare to Work Commission,” said Legislator Anker. “The commission will continue to work hard to provide Suffolk County residents with the tools and resources needed to secure employment opportunities on Long Island.”
The commission was created to evaluate and make recommendations of federal, state, and county policies and procedures designed to move people from welfare to work. The commission also includes representatives of local hospitals, labor departments, colleges, and advocacy groups.
