“Legislator Piccirillo hosts successful Narcan Overdose Prevention training seminar at the Holtsville Fire Department”
On Thursday February 13th Legislator Anthony A. Piccirillo hosted his first official event as a Suffolk County Legislator. Legislator Piccirillo collaborated with the Suffolk County Department of Health who gave an hour long presentation and demonstration on opioid related overdoses, how to detect an opioid related overdose, how to properly administer Narcan and how to potentially save a life. This Narcan overdose prevention training was attended by over 50 people at the Holtsville Fire Department on Waverly Avenue in Holtsville.
“I was really happy to have such a successful event within my own community” stated Piccirillo who currently resides in Holtsville. “Prevention training is an important aspect to combating the opid epidemic which has plagued my generation” added Legislator Piccirillo. Suffolk County has seen the worst of the opioid crisis in the state of New York. “I am hopeful that with training seminars such as these will help save lives” the Legislator added.
Each attendee received two free Narcan kits as well as a certificate of completion for the course that is good for two years. “If you missed this seminar and you want to attend one, my office will be hosting a Narcan overdose prevention training in collaboration with the Bohemia Fire Department on March 5th ” , Legislator Piccirillo stated.
