Suffolk County Legislator Steven J. Flotteron along with members of West Islip Administration and teaching staff recognized incoming Senior, Karina Vartanian, for her YouTube video production of “Thank You for the Memories,” in honor of the 2020 graduating seniors and teachers.
Ms. Vartanian composed and recorded a song as an assignment with her Music Technology Class in IB Music when the COVID-19 pandemic forced her class to be taught remotely.
Nostalgic about her customary learning and school pride, Ms. Vartanian wanted to pay tribute to what she and other students, especially seniors, were missing. So in honor of her teachers and peers she composed her song, “Thank You for the Memories,” set amid a backdrop of historic New York City landmarks such as St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Lincoln Center and Radio City in addition to her community of West Islip.
