MIDDLE ISLAND, NY – On Monday, October 5th, a representative from Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker’s office joined Boy Scouts, Eagle Scouts, troop leaders and Scout families to honor Troop 433’s newest Eagle Scout, Nathan Strunk. The ceremony was held outdoors at the Middle Island Fire Department Outdoor Pavilion.

I want to congratulate Nathan on his outstanding achievements and for receiving the honor of being an Eagle Scout in Troop 433, said Legislator Anker. It is always a joy to see Scouts like Nathan who dedicate themselves to community service that so positively impact our community members.

Eagle Scout is the highest rank that a scout can receive. It requires hard work and dedication for a scout to earn 21 merit badges, complete a community service project and undergo a lengthy review process. Nathan Strunk received the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout after completing his community service project. For his project, Nathan organized and managed a crew that built and installed two “Little Free Libraries” at the Ridge Community Park in Ridge, NY. Nathan coordinated with the Longwood Public Library to stock and maintain the “Little Free Libraries,” one featuring adult books and the other featuring children’s books. The “Little Free Libraries” are neighborhood book exchanges that foster a deeper sense of community through book sharing.
