PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – Deputy Presiding Officer Rob Calarco accepted a donation on behalf the Suffolk County Lions Club and the Suffolk County Legislature of over 100 children’s backpacks and school supplies. The donation was made by Wendy Darbee and Maureen Wilson of the Wilson Family for Alzheimer’s Disease and will go to children in Texas and Louisiana that have been affected by Hurricane Harvey.
“Thank you to Wendy, Maureen, and their entire family for their generous donation,” said Calarco. “In the face of a terrible tragedy like Harvey, it is truly heartwarming to see folks from all of the country come together to support those families affected.”
The donations will be sent to the Houston area on Thursday, September 14 along with other donations collected by the Suffolk County Lions Club and the Suffolk County Legislature.
