Sag Harbor, NY— Suffolk County Legislator Bridget Fleming has released the following statement on the COVID-19 “Yellow Zone” classification of Hampton Bays and Riverhead:
“Hampton Bays and Riverhead are now classified as ‘Yellow Zones’ by the State’s Cluster Action Initiative. When an area located in a county of 900,000 or more people has a 7-day rolling average positivity above 2.5% for 10 days and has 10 or more new daily cases per 100,000 residents on 7-day average, it is categorized as a precautionary ‘Yellow Zone’. The following guidelines apply to ‘Yellow Zones:’
Non- residential gatherings: 25 people max, indoors and outdoors
Residential gatherings: 10 people max, indoors and outdoors
Houses of Worship: 50% of maximum capacity
Businesses: Open
Dining: Indoor and outdoor dining are permitted, 4 person maximum per table; bars and restaurants close at 10pm for on premise consumption
Schools: Open with 20% weekly testing of in-person students& faculty
To avoid overwhelming our health care system and to maintain the public health, it is important that we continue to do our part to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Remember to wash your hands, watch your distance, and wear your mask properly. Southampton Stony Brook is conducting drive-through testing, by appointment only, in Red Creek Park. To make an appointment, call 631-728-0505. Drive-through testing is also being conducted at the County Center in Riverhead—to schedule an appointment, call (845) 553-8030. We here in Eastern Suffolk managed to slow the spread in the summer, and we can do it again if we remain cautious.
