January 29, 2021 – Legislator Kennedy starts off the New Year by administering the oath of office to the Board and officers of the American Bikers for Awareness, Training and Education (ABATE).
On a chilly January night, a dedicated group met to reaffirm their commitment to promote safe motorcycling, and to advocate for education, awareness, and equity among the motoring public for those who enjoy two wheeled vehicles. Long Island ABATE, originally a chapter of NY ABATE voted in 2012 to become an independent organization. This group, not limited to motorcyclists, is an organization that promotes rights for bikers and drivers alike. Additionally, the group promotes education as well as positive socialization through many bike runs, campouts, concerts and travels around the United States.
Legislator Kennedy took the time to talk with the Board members about goals and plans for 2021. She also noted that this group has been very successful in raising almost $1 Million during its existence, supporting veterans’ posts and other worthy veterans’ organizations throughout the greater Long Island community
Legislator Kennedy congratulated all board members on their continued commitment to their mission, and commended both President Chris Beckhans and Debbie Stondell, Legislative Liaison as well as the rest of the board for their continued commitment to make Long Island a safer area to enjoy motorcycling. Let’s look forward to a better 2021.
