Amityville, NY – Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer DuWayne Gregory recently congratulated the group of local high school and college students who completed their 2017 summer internships at his district office in Amityville.
“Internship programs help nurture the growth of our future leaders through hands-on learning and guide them on their path to a bright future,” said Presiding Officer Gregory. “I would like to thank this special group of young people for all of their hard work and assistance this summer and wish them all the best in the upcoming school year.”
Interns in the 15th legislative district office learned about the mission, roles and responsibilities of the Suffolk County Legislature and received a behind-the-scenes look at how local government functions. Their duties included assisting constituents, legislative research and general governmental office activities.
