On the nineteenth of March, Legislator Kennedy honored Natalie Quigley-Worthington, “Woman of Distinction”, representing Suffolk County Legislature District 12. The Suffolk County’s Women’s Advisory Commission acknowledges and recognizes the contributions of all women to the advances of our County and our Country during Women’s History month.
Natalie is a retired Suffolk County Police Officer, who served in the 3rd and 5th Precincts, where she assisted others in need, defused problematic situations and brought about a feeling of safety and mutual respect within the community. After retirement she continues the work that she had begun and welcomed volunteer positions.
Currently, Natalie volunteers at the Smithtown Historical Society where she assists in the planning of events and fundraising. She is a Girl Scout leader, an active member of the PTA/PTO, and actively fundraises for the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life, and is also active as a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) teacher at St. Patrick’s Church.
Natalie’s greatest joy is her daughter, Kylee. Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) has directly affected Kylee and Natalie has been an advocate, raising awareness and monies for a condition that impacts 1 in 100 children. Over the last 8 years, Natalie and Kylee have raised thousands of dollars thru the CHD walk that is now held annually at Sunken Meadow State Park.
Natalie is a true “Woman of Distinction”, working to bring about progress in her community, while being a role model to her daughter and other young ladies.
