Hauppauge, NY: On Saturday, June 12th, Suffolk County Legislator Kevin McCaffrey stood with officials from across Nassau and Suffolk Counties to unveil a memorial honoring the twenty one transportation workers who died of COVID-19 across Long Island.
On the morning of Saturday, June 12th, Yesterday morning, Suffolk County Legislator Kevin J. McCaffrey stood with officials from across Nassau and Suffolk Counties – including County Executives Steve Bellone and Laura Curran- to unveil a memorial honoring the twenty one public transportation workers who died of COVID-19 across Long Island.
“Our transportation workers,” said McCaffrey, “serve as the backbone of our society, and proved to the masses how essential they were last year when they were tasked with providing much needed PPE, testing and vaccine equipment, as well as keeping our mass transportation systems up and running. I thank them all for their dedication to serving others, and assure that we will never forget their service.”
Legislator McCaffrey represents Suffolk County’s 14th Legislative District which encompasses the Village of Lindenhurst, Babylon Village, the hamlets of West Babylon and North Lindenhurst, portions of Copiague, North Babylon and Babylon’s barrier beach communities.
