Legislator Trotta Congratulates Six Eagle Scouts from Troop 41

Eagle Scout Troop 41 six scouts

(Smithtown, NY)…It was fitting that Troop 41 held its Eagle Court of Honor for six scouts at Eagle’s Nest, which is home to the Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium in Centerport. Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta joined many other local, county and state officials, Troop Leaders, scouts and family members to congratulate the scouts for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. Legislator Trotta said, “Earning the title of Eagle Scout can be compared with becoming a Navy Seal, a doctor or  a Harvard graduate as a great accomplishment, however, these young men achieved the position of Eagle Scout prior to turning 18, and not while they are in their twenties.” “I applaud these young men, their families and fellow scouts for helping them realize their goals,” added Legislator Trotta.

The following scouts earned the rank of Eagle Scout on June 20:

Thomas Albero, a junior at St. Anthony High School, built and installed a bookcase at LI Cares in Huntington Station and collected children and adult books in English and Spanish. He also raised and donated $1100 to the organization to purchase more books.

Mark Baron, a Northport High School senior, who has enlisted in the US Army, constructed a wheelchair accessible picnic table for the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Residential Treatment Unit at the Northport VA Hospital.

Ryan Farrington, a senior at Northport High School, who will be playing football at Utica College, designed a Walking/Running/Biking 5K Trail at the Meadowlark Park/Northport VA property. He has also maintained the trail since it was completed.

Will Harnos, a Northport High School senior, will be entering the Regiment of Cadets at SUNY Maritime, renovated two lean-to camping structures at West Hills County Park.

Luke Kowalchuk, a senior at Northport High School, will study mechanical engineering at SUNY Stony Brook. He built and installed three handicapped accessible tables at the Northport VA Hospital in honor of his granduncles, three of whom are Korean veterans.

Paul Ritter, a Northport High School senior, will pursue a degree in mechanical engineering when he goes to college. He constructed a 36x20 foot stone retaining wall at the Northport VA Hospital’s Memorial Garden and refurbished the area with new plants.
