Sharon Lin, a senior at Harborfields High School, is an extraordinary young woman that I am proud to honor as the Distinguished Youth Award winner from the 18th Legislative District.
Sharon has met all the qualifications necessary to be awarded the 2021 Suffolk County Distinguished Youth Award Gold Medal. She visited 15 beautiful parks, trails and preserves throughout the County, picking up litter along the way. She played Varsity Volleyball on the Harborfields High School team and was able to complete her goal of going to the County Championships.
Sharon’s volunteer service is non-stop. She has tutored at the Tri CYA, as well as for a non-profit known as Simple Studies. She ran a food drive with the Huntington Interfaith Homeless Initiative (HIHI), painted windows at her school, volunteered at festivals, sent approximately 75 notes and cards to the elderly, and is currently co-chairing a Huntington Anti-Bias Concert to be held on August 21st at Heckscher Park in Huntington.
Congratulations, Sharon, on a job well done!
