Lindenhurst, NY: On the evening of December 13th, Suffolk County Legislator Kevin McCaffrey brought a special guest to the monthly Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce meeting – Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon.
Sheriff Toulon spoke to the many initiatives and programs he and his team have utilized to modernize criminal justice within our County, including intervention programs to deter re-entry into the criminal justice system and provide allies to youth facing dangerous home and school situations. Sheriff Toulon stressed the importance of an enterprise of public safety, which includes local businesses, to foster a positive community environment and provide the best possible social situations for our youth to develop.
Also at the meeting, 1st Precinct COPE Officer Nick Schieda brought with him the newest members of the Suffolk County Police First Precinct in Police Officers Tonne, Benson, and McLaughlin, so that they may meet the stakeholders in the community they serve.
Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce President Jo Ann Boettcher and Board Members Marie Seaquist and Rea Leunes were also instrumental in making the meeting happen, as well as Bakuto Restaurant owners Rachel Voges and Zach Rude – who hosted the event.
Legislator Kevin McCaffrey represents Suffolk County's 14th Legislative District, which encompasses the Villages of Lindenhurst and Babylon, the hamlets of West Babylon and North Lindenhurst, portions of Copiague, North Babylon, and Babylon's barrier beach communities.
