WEST ISLIP, NY: On May 4th, Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer Kevin McCaffrey joined County Executive Steven Bellone and fellow legislators Nick Caracappa, Steve Flotteron, and Minority Leader Jason A. Richberg to announce the return of the Suffolk County Marathon to the Village of Babylon the weekend of October 23rd, 2022!
Said Presiding Officer McCaffrey, who represents the Babylon area as Legislator of the 14th District: “The Suffolk County Marathon has quickly become one of the premier events each year. It brings people together, fosters our sense of community, and makes clear Suffolk County government’s commitment to provide for the men and women who have served in our Armed Forces. On behalf of the Suffolk County Legislature, I thank all of the participants for being a part of the marathon and for supporting Suffolk’s thousands of veterans."
A number of events will be held over the summer leading up to the “Marathon Weekend,” which includes 1k, 5k, and 10k races on Saturday October 22nd, as well as a 10k, Half Marathon & Full Marathon on Sunday, October 23rd. Funds raised through the marathon are distributed the Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency in the form of grants to deliver or enhance services to Suffolk County veterans, active duty military, and their immediate families.
