This week, Suffolk County Legislator Nick Caracappa returned to visit fifth-grade students at Hiawatha Elementary School in Lake Ronkonkoma. Invited by teacher Tara Sigillo last month to discuss local government with the students, Caracappa returned to host a pizza party for students and faculty in celebration of the school year coming to a close. Some of the students even asked the Legislator to sign their yearbooks.
“I was so happy to come back and provide lunch for these great students, and to congratulate them as they move up to middle school,” stated Legislator Caracappa. “I was so impressed by these very inquisitive and outgoing fifth graders, and appreciative of their subsequent thank you letters telling me how much they enjoyed my visit last month. They told me they learned so much about government, water quality and civic duties, that I felt compelled to pay one last visit before the school year ended. A special thanks goes to teachers Tara Sigillo, Kyle James, and Carolyn Maloney for coordinating this event. Wishing everybody a wonderful and safe summer!”
