Huntington, NY – Suffolk County Legislator William R.
Spencer, M.D. was pleased to attend SeniorNet’s Annual Meeting on Tuesday to
present a proclamation to the group in recognition of their 18 years of
outstanding community service and dedication to helping adults aged 50+ become
technologically capable.
SeniorNet
is an international, volunteer, not-for-profit organization founded in 1986.
Since establishing their first learning center on Long Island in 1999, SeniorNet
at the FSL-LI has grown from a basic computer course to a broad curriculum,
with over 30 courses. Serving absolute
beginners to advanced users and those all in-between, workshops cover how to
use specific computer programs, the internet, and various mobile devices. In addition to offering computer courses,
SeniorNet is involved in many community outreach programs, and has worked to
refurbish and donate more than 5,000 PCs to charities across Long Island. The
Huntington location is recognized as one of the leading centers in the country,
and has received national recognition.
“By
providing this outstanding service, thousands of older adults across Suffolk
County have access to technologies that enhance their lives and enable them to
share their knowledge and wisdom. Thank you for your valued service.” said
Legislator Spencer.
