Legislator Rob Trotta Names Pat Biancaniello of Smithtown as the 2023 Woman of Distinction for the 13th Legislative District

(Smithtown, NY)…At the March 7  General Meeting of the Suffolk County Legislature, the Presiding Officer announced the nominees who were named the 2023 Women of Distinction for each of the 18 legislative districts. Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta selected Pat Biancaniello of Smithtown for this recognition. “This honor is to acknowledge her commitment to and involvement with her family and community. I have known Pat for a long time and she has been a role model for her family and other women. We have worked together to preserve the Nissequogue River State Park and other projects. Pat has truly made this community a better place for all who live here,” said Legislator Trotta.

Pat graduated from Commack High School North and Stony Brook University. In fact, she was designated an Alumni of Distinction by the Commack School District. She has held various positions in the business sector, including being the first woman hired as the General Manager at Classic Transportation. In that role she negotiated contracts with casinos in Atlantic City and ticket sellers, planned marketing strategies, and worked with personnel to create a benefits package for sick and vacation time.

Starting in 2016, Pat served four years as a Smithtown Town Councilwoman. After leaving town government, she established Smithtown, an online local news site in 2010, which is still in operation.

Pat is involved with numerous community organizations including, but not limited to, the Smithtown League of Women Voters and is a past president, past president of the Commack/Kings Park Rotary, board member of the Nissequogue River State Park,   served on Smithtown’s 350 Anniversary Committee and chaired the Race Committee, and was one of the founders of the Smithtown Chapter of PEO CK (Philanthropic Education Organization.)

On a personal level, Pat created Heart for Health, a support group for parents whose children have a major illness. She started it because her newborn son developed a serious heart condition. He is now healthy and the group existed for more than 20 years.
