(Smithtown, NY)…Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta is pleased to provide senior residents of Smithtown and Huntington with the Suffolk County Office for the Aging Senior Advocate schedule for May and June. According to the Office of the Aging, senior advocates will educate seniors on benefits they may be eligible for and assist them in applying for those benefits. Particular emphasis is on programs that foster economic independence such Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly known as Food Stamps), Medicare Savings Program and HEAP. They recommend that interested seniors call the sites in advance to confirm that the advocate will be there. “This is a great opportunity for seniors to meet with a representative from the Suffolk County Office of the Aging to get information and assistance,” said Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta.
