MOUNT SINAI, NY – On Sunday, January 14, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker attended an Eagle Scout Ceremony at Mount Sinai High School to honor Troop 1776’s newest Eagle Scout, James Anthony Snider. James is the first Eagle Scout from Boy Scout Troop 1776 of Mount Sinai, which was founded in 2013 and is chartered by the Port Jefferson EMS.
“The hard work and dedication of local scouts is a vital asset to our community. Through his hard work, dedication, and commitment to scouting, James has proven himself to be an extraordinary leader. His Eagle Scout accomplishment will set an example for the younger scouts in Troop 1776. I congratulate James and wish him continued success in his future endeavors,” said Legislator Anker
Eagle Scout is the highest rank that a scout can receive and requires the scouts to earn 21 merit badges, complete a community service project, and undergo a lengthy review process. As part of the Eagle Scout process, James was required to complete a community service project. For his project, James transformed an empty piece of land into a beautiful memorial garden for the Port Jefferson EMS. He created a relaxing sitting area with chairs and a table, a large stepping stone path, handmade wooden benches, and beautiful rose bushes.
