Ronkonkoma, NY- On Tuesday January 9, 2018 Legislator Sunderman (R-Mastic) had the honor of swearing in the Officers of the Long-Island ABATE. There are fourteen board members, two of which were newly elected members.
Following their swearing in we had discussed some concerns such as, how the potholes were going to be handled come spring time and road safety.
“Sharing the road with our motorcyclists is important as well as to make sure everyone gets home safe, at the end of the day. Unsafe roads pose a very real danger to motorcyclists and we have to make sure they are safe for all vehicles; whether they have two wheels or four.” said Sunderman
The Long Island ABATE or American Bikers for Awareness, Training, and Education is an organization which strives to provide training and education for motorcycle riders. Additionally, they not only provide bikers rights, but the rights of all motorists. Many of their members are not bike riders but advocates for those who do ride. Sunderman was so impressed by their organization that he joined as a non-riding member.
Meetings are held in Ronkonkoma and Massapequa, in order to accommodate all Long Islanders. They encourage any patron wanting to join in the meetings or to join their organization; visit the website or call their office. www.longislandabate.org
