MOUNT SINAI, NY – From February 1st to March 1st, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker is partnering with Long Island Care for a pet food drive at her office in Mount Sinai. Donations for all pets including those with paws, fins, wings, tails, hoofs, and whiskers are welcome! Most needed items include: 5 or 10 pound unopened bags of dog and cat food, canned food, treats, kitty litter, and new pet toys.
“Families in need should not have to choose between feeding themselves or their pets,” said Legislator Anker. “During times of economic hardship, it is especially important that families and their pets stay together.”
Established in 2009, Baxter’s Pet Pantry at Long Island Cares distributes pet food to families in need who are having difficulty securing pet food in order to avoid pets being placed in shelters.
Please bring food and supply donations to Legislator Anker’s office at 620 Route 25A, Suite B, in Mount Sinai. The office is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. For more information, please call Legislator Anker’s office at (631) 854-1600.
