Legislator Steven J. Flotteron (R-11th Legislative District) was honored to recognize new Eagle Scout Daniel John Brake with Boy Scouts of America Troop 370, Islip, NY. Sixteen year old Brake’s Eagle Scout Project was in support of his mom, Diane, a breast cancer survivor. He worked with his Troop in refurbishing the Islip Breast Cancer Coalition garden at Islip Town Hall. His project included building a bench overlooking the garden for cancer survivors, family and friends to come to reflect and relax. During the month of October, the Coalition adds handmade butterflies with the names of survivors and those who lost their battle to cancer.
“I am so proud of
Daniel and his accomplishments. His selfless tribute to his mom and others
battling breast cancer is an example of leadership for others to emulate,” said
Legislator Flotteron.
