Deputy Presiding Officer Celebrates Grand Re-Opening of Medford VFW Post 2937

4.13.18 Medford VFW Reopening

MEDFORD, N.Y. – Deputy Presiding Officer Rob Calarco was on hand to celebrate the grand re-opening of the Henry James Jones VFW Post 2937 in Medford.  After an extensive renovation, the century-old structure is ready once again to host meetings and community events.

“This has been an extensive renovation that the entire community can be proud of,” stated Deputy Presiding Officer Rob Calarco.  “The Veterans have a beautiful space they can not only meet in, but rent out for community functions, bringing in income that ensures their future.”

Deputy Presiding Officer Rob Calarco, along with the Town of Brookhaven, the Medford Hamlet Foundation, The Medford Taxpayers and Civic Association, the Medford Chamber of Commerce and countless local residents all pitched in financially and physically to bring the historic structure back to life.  Local labor unions donated extensive labor and materials to replace the HVAC system, install a new kitchen and flooring, hang new sheetrock and paint.

“A very special thank you goes to the Long Island Federation of Labor, Laborers Local 66, Plumbers Local 200, IBEW Local 25, and the National Council of Carpenters for all of their time.  This project would not have been physically or financially possible without them.”
