(Smithtown, NY)…Established in 1995, Hungry for Music is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding opportunities in music for all children. Since its inception, Hungry for Music has placed more than 10,000 instruments into the hands of aspiring musicians. The organization collects, repairs and redistributes more than 500 instruments a year – ranging from guitars and trombones to violins and xylophones.
“One of the bands performing in the Smithtown Library Summer Concert Series, Just Sixties, is involved with the organization and will be collecting instruments the night of the concert on July 27 and I thought I would lend a hand and start collecting in advance of the show to add to the donations they receive that night,” said Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta.
Regardless of condition, any instrument except for upright pianos or organs may be dropped off at Legislator Rob Trotta’s district office at 59 Landing Avenue Smithtown, Suite 1, Monday- Friday between the hours of 9am – 4pm until Thursday, July 27. “The community has been very generous during my other collection drives so I am hoping for a good response,” added Trotta. For directions or more information, please call Legislator Trotta’s office at 631-854-3900.
Legislator Robert Trotta represents the 13th Legislative District, which includes Smithtown, Fort Salonga, Kings Park, San Remo, Nissequogue, Head of the Harbor, and St. James, as well as most of East Northport and parts of Northport and Commack.
