Amityville, NY – Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer DuWayne Gregory was on hand to congratulate and present proclamations to two local residents, Chase Viviani of Lindenhurst and Nicholas DiDomenico of Deer Park, at their Eagle Scout award ceremonies this past weekend.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America scouting program. With this achievement, Chase and Nicholas are among the small percentage of young men in the Boy Scouts of America who have reached this prestigious level. Since the inception of the Eagle Scout award in 1912, only about two percent of eligible Scouts have earned this honor.
For his Eagle Scout project, Chase, of Boy Scout Troop 383 in Lindenhurst, installed two outdoor benches at the Nassau County Police Department Firearms Training Unit in memory of department members who were lost in the line of duty.
Nicholas’s Eagle Scout project consisted of the planning, development and construction of two new shelves for the Deer Park Food Pantry, as well as running a community food drive for the pantry. Nicholas is a member of Boy Scout Troop 86 in Deer Park, and his project took 180.52 working hours to complete.
