Amityville, NY: On Monday, July 17th, Suffolk County Legislator Kevin McCaffrey (R- Lindenhurst) attended a tour at GKN Aerospace with the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County (GSSC). The tour took place at GKN’s location in Amityville and was attended by GSSC Leadership, GKN Aerospace staff and girl scouts from various troops in Suffolk County.
The tour was led by female GKN employees and organized to expose the Girl Scouts to non- traditional career paths in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). For the tour, the Girl Scouts were broken up into small groups led by women working in various career fields at GKN Aerospace to show the breadth of career opportunities available.
“I was glad to be a part of the tour today and enjoyed helping the Girl Scouts learn about different career paths that they might not have been exposed to previously,” said Legislator McCaffrey. “GKN Aerospace were incredible hosts and made the tour memorable for everyone involved.”
