Pay some attention to fall prevention! Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly (D-Huntington Station) and Commissioner of Health Services Dr. James Tomarken would like to inform mature residents that registration is now underway for one of the County’s innovative programs focused on fall prevention. The program is intended to empower mature adults to carry out behaviors that reduce the risks of falls and improve their quality of life.
Staying Independent for Life
‘Stepping On’ is a CDC model program comprising a seven-week workshop that focuses on balance and strength, home and community safety, vision, safe footwear and medication review. The program has proven to reduce the number of falls for participants by 31 percent. There
