Carol Quirk Honored for More than 15 Years of Public Service

Carol Quirk

Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly recently joined Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer, other officials and town employees at a special retirement luncheon and ceremony for former Town Clerk and Councilwoman Carol Quirk.

On May 24 in the Babylon Town Board Room, Ms. Quirk was honored with tributes, stories and smiles for her more than 15 years of public service with personal recollections of all that she has done for the residents of the Town of Babylon. She began her service as a Town of Babylon Councilwoman in January 2002 and became Town Clerk in January 2008, a position she nobly held through 2017 at which time she decided not to seek re-election. From January 2018 until her retirement, Ms. Quirk continued to assist the town as an assistant in the Supervisor’s Office.

Prior to being elected to the Suffolk County Legislature, Legislator Tom Donnelly served as a Town of Babylon Councilman and worked closely with Ms. Quirk.

“Carol Quirk was one of my mentors when I joined the Babylon Town Board, always available to answer any question and guide where needed,” said Legislator Donnelly. “Her knowledge of Babylon and respectful way of assisting constituents, employees and officials with equal ease was both impressive and inspiring. It was a privilege for me to personally serve with such an honorable public servant and although she will be sorely missed, she has left a lasting legacy and will remain a presence.”
