Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly recently joined the family, friends and fellow troop members of Stefano Agrotis and Samuel Gosin of Melville to witness, honor and recognize each of them for earning the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, the highest-recognized achievement bestowed by the Boy Scouts of America to its members. The Court of Honor was held at Parkside Manor at the Elks in Huntington on Wednesday, June 6.
Mr. Agrotis’s Eagle Scout project involved donating five new iPads with protective cases, charges and headphones to the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Northport. The iPads were provided for the benefit of the Veteran patients who reside at the Community Living Center so that they could communicate with their loved ones using apps such as Skype. Mr. Gosin’s Eagle Scout project, which took more than 179 hours and 23 volunteers to complete, involved building 10 blue bird houses for his high school, Half Hollow Hills East.
Nicholas Duchatellier of Dix Hills, who also received his Eagle Scout Award on June 6, was honored by Suffolk Legislator Susan A. Berland (D-Dix Hills) at the ceremony. All three are members of Boy Scout Troop 106.
“Stefano, Samuel and Nicholas demonstrated leadership, character and a true commitment to excellence in completing their extraordinary Eagle Scout projects,” said Legislator Donnelly. “I was proud to join Legislator Berland and their families and friends in honoring and thanking them for their dedication to service and the community.”
