Hauppauge, NY –On Tuesday March 20, 2018 the Suffolk County Legislature recognized honorees for the 2018 Suffolk County Woman of Distinction award. Each Legislator recognized their nominee at a special luncheon held in Hauppauge. Legislator Sunderman chose Shirley resident, Janeth Billian for the Third Legislative District for her hard work and dedication to her community as well as her selflessness and drive to help every person she meets.
“I am humbled and honored as a recipient of the 2018 Suffolk County Woman of Distinction for the 3rd Legislative District. It is nice to be recognized by my own community on all the things I love to do but I do all these things in the goodness of my heart and because I want to help and make a difference for each and every one I meet.” explained Janeth
Janeth was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. Upon graduating high school she moved to the United States in 1986 where she attended Suffolk Community College, earning her Associates degree. Janeth married her husband Al in 1993 and have 5 wonderful kids; two boys and three girls. Four who attended William Floyd School District and her last, who will graduate in 2019. Janeth is also a devoted Cheer mom and travels to every competition in spite of her busy schedule between work and charity organizations.
“Everyone calls me the Energizer bunny but I just love helping people and I always make time for my family, so I make it work.” said Janeth. She praised her husband and family as her biggest support system and the reason she is able to do it all.
“Janeth’s tireless commitment and dedication to her community is exemplary. I could not be more proud to have chosen Janeth Billian for 2018 Woman of Distinction for the third Legislative District.” Said Sunderman.
