Legislators
Tom Cilmi and Leslie Kennedy welcomed Pack 3333 of Hauppauge to the Suffolk
County Legislature Building in Hauppauge so that they could learn about what a
Legislator does and how a law is made.
Each of the eleven Scouts assumed the role of Legislator. They listened to public speakers, then
debated and voted on two proposed laws, one conceived by one of the Scouts to
ban motorcycles from highways, and another which would have outlawed the
distribution of candy on Halloween.
Proclaimed one of the Scouts, “Don’t take away my Milky Way!” Neither bill passed, much to the delight of
motorcycle riders and trick or treaters throughout Suffolk County.
