Legislator Anker Honors Boy Scout Troop 204 Eagle Scouts

Luke and Liam Schibi

MILLER PLACE, NY – On Saturday, November 17th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker attended an Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony at Miller Place High School to honor Troop 204’s newest Eagle Scouts, Liam Schibi and Luke Schibi. Legislator Anker was joined by Scoutmaster Joseph Argento, Assistant Scoutmaster Thomas Barry, and other elected officials.

“The projects by our local scouts are vital assets to our community. Through their hard work, dedication, and commitment to scouting, Liam and Luke have proven themselves to be extraordinary leaders. Their Eagle Scout accomplishments will set great examples for the younger scouts in Troop 204. I congratulate Luke and Liam and wish them continued success in their future endeavors,” said Legislator Anker

Luke Schibi’s community service project involved refurbishing a shed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Rocky Point.  Through Luke’s efforts, the shed has been re-roofed and washed, and given a new gutter and a fresh coat of paint. For his project, Liam Schibi constructed and installed fishing line filament receptacles at Cedar Beach.  Receptacles designed specifically for fishing line filament are necessary, as fishing line is not a recyclable item and can harm wildlife if not disposed of properly.  These receptacles can be used to keep fishing line off the beach, which helps keep the environment clean and safe.

Eagle Scout is the highest rank that a scout can receive, and requires the scout to earn 21 merit badges, complete a community service project, and undergo a lengthy review process. For more information about the Boy Scouts of America and the rank of Eagle Scout, please visit www.scouting.org.
