The 7th district is home to some of the best parks in Suffolk County, including one of the premier ocean front beaches on Long Island, Smith Point County Park. Reservations for the camp grounds can be through the Suffolk County Parks website. You can make a reservation by clicking here.
A Suffolk County Green Key Card identifies you as a Suffolk County resident and gives you access to the many great parks in Suffolk County. It also gives you discounts on park activities. Suffolk County Senior Citizen I.D. Cards entitles seniors to many benefits and discounts across Suffolk County. Many businesses will provide discounts to card holders and it also entitles you to reduced fare on the Suffolk County transit system. You can get a card for FREE by coming to my office at 90 W Main Street, Suite 2N, Patchogue. Please bring identification with proof of birth date and residency in Suffolk County.
If you will be out of Suffolk County on Election Day or you have difficulty getting to your polling place, you can request an absentee ballot from the Board of Elections to vote by mail. Absentee Ballots can be requested by mail up to SEVEN days before Election Day. For more information and to download the application, please visit the Board of Elections website here.

Very basically, the Legislature is the policy-making branch of County government. We make some of the laws that impact Suffolk County residents and businesses. Additionally, we amend and adopt the County Executive's proposed Operating Budget (make this a link) and Capital Budget (make this a link).
The County is responsible (in part) for:
Maintaining County roads and buildings
Administering most public assistance
Providing for public safety through the Police Department, Sheriff's Department, District Attorney and Probation, as well as operate three correctional facilities;
Overseeing public and environmental health
Funding Suffolk County Community College
Managing a variety of Civil Service responsibilities
Providing a variety of referral services and funding related to veterans, seniors and disabled persons among others
Providing for public transportation through our bus system
Providing consumer protection through our Department of Labor, Licensing and Consumer Affairs
Generally, the office is open from 9:00 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday; however, after-hour appointments can be made to accommodate individual needs.

Residents who have documents inneed of notarization can bring them to the district at 130 West JerichoTurnpike in Huntington Station, Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 amand 5 pm with a valid form of identification. Acceptable forms ofidentification include: a driver’s license, a state-issued ID card, a passportor a military ID card. Do not pre-sign any documents prior to notarization.

You must have a Suffolk CountySenior ID card to get the senior discount on the bus. They are provided free of charge at thedistrict office. Please stop in anytimewith identification demonstrating you are over the age of 60 to receive oneinstantly on the spot. If you are unableto get to the district office, please call (631) 854-4433.
